Paula Andrea Guecha was born in Colombia on March 22, 2018. At five months of age she was diagnosed with hyperinsulinism/hyperammonemia (HIHA). We spent days and nights by her side monitoring her sugar levels. Paula now uses a Freestyle Libre continuous glucose monitor (CGM). It has given us great peace of mind. There are bad days and there are good days, but we trust in God that everything will improve. Currently she is 22 months old and has a slight developmental delay. We try to avoid contact with children due to her weak immune system, but we decided to adopt a pet named Simon, and her mood and health has improved a lot. We check her blood glucose regularly and visit the doctor often.
