The Second Annual Sugar Soiree, in support of Congenital Hyperinsulinism International (CHI), took place in Hillsborough, California, on Friday, November 13, 2015. It was an evening dedicated to raising hyperinsulinism awareness and funds for research, education, and support.
The event took place at Carolands Chateau, a stunning mansion designed by renowned French Architect, Ernest Sanson. The grand home has been described as the Downton Abbey of California, and has been the subject of a PBS full length documentary. The philanthropic Johnson family donated the home to be used exclusively for charitable events and CHI is a lucky recipient, having been selected to hold its signature event at the Chateau. CHI is so grateful to the Carolands for sharing this beautiful home for the evening.
Guests at the event had the opportunity to explore the one of a kind house, visit with members of the CHI community, view the “Be My Sugar” Gallery designed by Sarah-Charlotte Browne, enjoy the cocktail party and silent auction organized by Anthea London, take pleasure in the Awards Ceremony and learn about the CHI Story and CHI Impact.
NPR Senior Editor, Julia McEvoy, was the MC for the evening and she eloquently shared the CHI Story. Elise Falk, Chairperson of the event committee, gave a warm welcome to CHI guests and presented the CHI awards together with CHI Executive Director, Julie Raskin. Davelyn Hood, MD, President of the Board of Directors of CHI, led the CHI Impact section of the program, which included a highly successful “impact” auction.
