The following was shared by Pamela Weber-Leaf:
Hyperinsulinism Awareness Day on Sunday, June 7 was the perfect time to host CHI’s initial viewing party for “Turn Hours Into a Lifetime,” the documentary short film about hyperinsulinism (HI) developed through the organization’s participation in the European Union-funded LightCure project. I was so pleased to have old and new friends of my own and CHI CEO Julie Raskin’s attend the showing yesterday at my home in Montclair. There, they learned about the wonderful work CHI is doing to spread the word about HI, provide support, and advance research. It was a nice chance for guests to sip wine and snack while connecting with one another and sharing their own interest in rare disease, health care, or just compassion for the struggles so many people face.
Produced by the creative agency Wolfstreet, the film uses intimate, human-centered storytelling to highlight three families from different countries, each facing the consequences of severe HI-linked neonatal hypoglycemia, and illustrates how diagnosis and proper treatment in the hours after birth can protect an infant’s future.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and thank you to all current and future supporters of CHI’s programs to end preventable death and neurologic damage. Together, we’re giving babies, kids, and adults the best possible chance of full, healthy lives – wherever they live!
Interested in hosting a casual viewing “Turn Hours Into a Lifetime” party of your own? I’d love to hear from you, and welcome outreach or questions at pweberleaf@congenitalhi.org. Thank you!
