Hi! My name is Felecia and I am 35 years old living with HI!
I was diagnosed with HI when I was 28 yrs old, after my daughter Hannah was born and diagnosed with HI.
I was a very sick child that was misdiagnosed with hypoglycemia and epilepsy but nothing seemed to be working. I had seizures daily, often multiple times a day due to lows but no one really understood what was going on. When I was 13 I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic, I personally think my pancreas just gave up after working triple time for so many years. I was never really a normal type one though. I could go weeks without needing insulin, whenever I was pregnant I didn’t need insulin but still had lows.
All that to say I have an amazing life! I am married with three kids, one with HI. I went to college and graduated with a degree in psychology. I’m an author and a Christian counselor. I drive, homeschool, sing for my church, and love deeply.
If you are worried about the outcome for your child know that they will be ok. Just you reading this means you are in the right track with the right team!!
